I finally hung something up

We've lived here 5.5 months and I  had yet to hang a single thing up on the wall. I've gotten so used to renting and moving that I've just never spent the time or money on art and pictures. I think I have commitment issues on putting nails in my freshly painted walls too. But no more...I'm ready to decorate!

My first project was a simple one. I've had plans for this crib spring for years. Pretty much since I saw this on Stephanie Howell's blog. She uses one in her scraproom to hang her layouts on. Genius! When we moved from California we got rid of the crib, but I kept the springs. Since then it's been sitting next to my desk and I hang layouts on it before I get them in the album.

I decided I wanted to display it out in the open...on a wall in the dining room and use it for pictures, cards etc...maybe layouts too. The kids like to look at them.

This was it before.

and this it after a can of spray paint

Now it has a few more valentine's cards and the kid's tissue paper suckers on it. Sorry for the crummy picture...we got a snowstorm and it is DARK in here. HA! Can you tell where we stopped painting?

Now that I've hung one thing up I'm on a roll. I hung up Elise's mirror. I'm redoing her room right now and it's looking so adorable. Maybe I'll try and take some pictures this week if the sun comes out.

Have a great Wednesday!

I'm in the same place here. We bought this house 9 months ago and almost nothing on the walls! Still have painting to do, though. Really great idea to repurpose that crib spring!
